How much NMN and Resveratrol should I take?

For both NMN and Resveratrol we recommend a dose of 500mg for people 35 and under, and a dose of 1000mg for people 35 and older. You should start out with half the recommended dose, and work up to the final dose over a 2 week period. If you experience any adverse effects, you should seek advice from a medical professional.

According to medical trials NMN remains safe and without adverse effects for doses up to 3 grams per day. Studies however have shown NMN to be beneficial from as little as 250mg per day up to 1,200mg per day.

Does are likely to be vary according to individuals, and you should seek medical advice in the first instance. If you have no medical reasons for not taking NMN, here at Bestlife we recommend to start with 250 mg of NMN and/or Resveratrol daily if you are younger than 35 years old. This dose can be doubled to 500 mg daily after 1–2 weeks. If you are 35 or older, it is recommended to start with 500 mg daily and increase to 1000 mg after 1–2 weeks.

Resveratrol supplements are possibly safe when taken by mouth in doses up to 1500 mg daily for up to 3 months. Higher doses of up to 2000-3000 mg daily have been used safely for 2-6 months. But these higher doses are more likely to cause stomach upset. For best results in terms of both efficacy and longevity, we here at Bestlife recommend a dose of 500mg to 1000mg per day, starting out at 250mg and working your way up. If you experience any adverse effects, you should seek advice from a medical professional.

When should I take NMN and Resveratrol?

Here at Bestlife we recommend breaking up the dose into a morning and late afternoon (or post-fast) time slot. In this manner, you can make the most of your NMN in the morning before food, and the most of your Resveratrol in the afternoon, once you’ve eaten. However, we take both supplements together at both times to ensure maximum possible effectiveness.

Want to learn more about the NMN/Resveratrol Paradox?

This is where things can get a bit tricky. According to Dr David Sinclair NMN is best taken in the morning before eating breakfast. NMN is soluble in water; and does not require the presence of food in the stomach to be effective. In fact, Sinclair argues that in the morning, before eating your first meal, is when your body is naturally producing its highest levels of NAD+; and taking your NMN supplements early should allow the body to piggy-back off this natural cycle.

On the other hand, Resveratrol is non-water-soluble and should be taken with food. However, we also know that NMN and Resveratrol compliment one another, and Resveratrol significantly increases the bio-availability of NMN to the body. Moreover – these supplements – due to their ability to mimic adversity (such as fasting for instance), compliment fasting; and therefore the question is - how do I not break my fast (thereby getting the best out of my NMN dose) and also take Resveratrol in an effective manner – taking advantage of both its individual supplement benefits and its ability to increase the body’s uptake of NMN?

The jury is out on this one at present, but we are definitely staying tuned in to the latest research developments on this one and will be sure to share them with you as new evidence emerges. In the meantime, we recommend hedging your bets by taking half your dose in the morning, and half in the afternoon (or post-fast). In this way you will maximise your NMN’s ability to piggy-back off your bodies natural NAD+ production cycle, and also manage to provide some of the complimentary benefits to NMN from Resveratrol – thereby ensuring maximum uptake by the body towards production of NAD+.

In the afternoon you get the full benefits of Resveratrol as a beneficial supplement in its own right, while also providing a boost to your body’s ability to make use of NMN at this time of the day. There are also a few more tricks you can use to maximise your body’s uptake of both NMN and Resveratrol. For a short video on how we do this here at Bestlife – click here.
