Beautiful on the Inside: Nicomonotide Mononucleotide (NMN) and Healthy Skin

For the most part when we think skin care what tends to come to mind is creams, peels, injections  and a whole raft of other topical applications. However, the fact that we tend to associate these external applications to skin care rather than looking to diet, exercise and science-backed supplements  is more the result of advertising and what we call beauty therapy than real science.

In recent years the role of collagen in skin elasticity and general skin heath has really come to the forefront of science-backed beauty products. In terms of bio-availability, collagen as a supplement is around 49% for the higher uptake provided by Marine Collagen – which is pretty good.  Given the role in NMN’s ability to ramp up the bodies production of NAD+, a key function of all bodily processes, it should be no surprise that NMN has also be shown to significantly raise collagen levels in the body. This has been shown to improve skin elasticity, prevent wrinkles and sagging and even reverse the outward signs of aging.

A review and analysis of 19 studies, published in the International Journal of Dermatology, that had a total of 1,125 participants has proven the role of collagen in improved skin care. Those who used collagen supplements saw an improvement in the firmness, suppleness, and moisture content of the skin, with wrinkles appearing less noticeable. Studies in this field of NMN’s role in skin care, though far fewer, have so far shown that taking NMN provides a great boost to what is essentially the largest organ in our bodies – resulting in the tightening of skin, prevention of age-spots, and helping to stop wrinkles and sagging skin. While the studies in this area are pretty thin right now, the ones that do exist certainly point to a link between taking NMN and looking younger and more supple.

At Best Life we have noticed that our skin has changed for the better in very noticeable ways since taking NMN. Firstly, at 53 my “pinch test” gave me about  a 2 second return to normal. For those of you that do not know the pinch test, you place your hand palm down on a table and pinch the skin on the top of the hand. You then time how long it takes for the skin to go back to normal. The time it takes for the skin to return to normal increases as you age as the skin becomes weaker and thinner.

My pinch test went from 2 seconds (to return to normal) to basically straight back to normal in a matter of around 2 weeks. We are now doing some trials with friends and noticing significant improvements in their pinch tests for skin after taking NMN – often in as little as 10 days.

I have also noticed that the many small spiderweb-like wrinkles on my face around the eyes have begun  to disappear or smooth noticeably, and I have a generally more youthful appearance. My partner Abbey has also noticed this in me and has commented.

We are currently doing pinch tests, among other tests, with our trial group (of 15 people). The trial group consists of males and females from the 30 plus age group. The group is aged between 30 and 70 years of age, and are from a variety of walks of life (some exercise, some do not, different diets, etc). We will share their experience with you guys once the 20 day trial is over.

Stay tuned for the results, and let’s see if beauty really is “on the inside”.
